"Craze Walk for Charity"

Successfully conducted the Craze Walk for Charity event for raising funds for children with cancer on 30.07.2016. So, far we have resource mobilized around Rs.20 Lakhs & Inkind Donation's worth of Rs.4.5 Lakhs.

"Smile Week” Program 2015"

The completion of 15 years of Smile Train India Operations, was celebrated as “Smile Week”. Mrs.B.Rohini Ramdass, IAS, Additional Collector, Flagged off the Cleft Children Rally.

"Flood Relief at Chennai"

Our staff & medical team, along with 2 ambulances have been conducting health camps for about 50 days now. So far around 20,000 people benefitted.

"The India-Winterim Program 2015"

Every year, Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research centre hosts the pre-medical students of the University of IOWA, USA for a few weeks. This is termed as the India-Winterim Program. This year marks the 10th batch of students and staff (30 members) from the University of Iowa. The group arrived on 30th December, 2015 and departed on 16th January, 2016. During their stay, the students are given awareness about the healthcare systems at the hospital and rural outreach initiatives. This is done by guided tours around the hospital, through the different departments, as well as site visits to nearby healthcare service initiatives. It allows the students a glimpse into a wider horizon of healthcare and has helped shape their medical careers. Typically, the total number of students and staff is between 50 - 30 members.

"Emergency Services for Nepal Earthquake Disaster"

Two days later, all hands were on the ground finding ways to help those who had been affected. During that period MMHRC provided free medical assistance to the affected people from 12.06.15 – 22.07.15. Our medical team partnered with Doctors for you and Red Cross Society. Around 1,10,000 people benefitted. The April 2015 Nepal Earthquake killed over 9000 people and injured more than 23,000. Hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless with entire villages flattened.

“Singing for Life” – 2015

Meenakshi Mission Hospital has conducted a “Classical Light Music Event” for the benefit of the children with cancer at our peadiatric oncology centre on 29.03.2015 (Sunday – 5 PM) at Gandhi Museum Auditorium, Madurai.

So far we have raised around Rs.22 Lakhs as grant & Rs.3.4 Lakhs as In-Kind Donation like (Hoarding, Banners, Backdrop, Media, Radio, TV, Video, Paper Advertisement) from 169 sponsors.

"MMHRC Distributes 50,000 books to preschool Children" on 09.03.2015."

An American based non-profit organisation, First Book, by Ms. Kyle Zimmer, USA, with the aim of providing 'access to new books for children in need', has come forward to help underprivileged children in India.

For the first time in India, Cartha (USA), Mahatma Group of Schools and Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, joined hands to distribute free books in and around Madurai. In total, over 60,000 books were received for the program. In the first phase, Meenakshi Mission Hospital has distributed 50,000 books, to preschool students.

During the commemorative function, Mr. P. Karthik, Vice President, Mahatma Schools, Mr. S. Thanasekara Pandian, Deputy Director - Department of Social Defence, Mr. K. Alagumuni (Head, HR, MMHRC) and Dr. T. Kasi Viswanathan (paediatric oncologist) were present, and also spoke on the occasion. The event was coordinated by Mr. P. Sundarraj (Head, Resource and Development, MMHRC).

MMHRC bags “Healthy Workplace Gold Level Award” for its employee engagement programs



Arogya world a global not for profit trust, in association with Clinton Global Initiative (CG), USA & Public Health Foundation of India has constituted “Healthy Workplace Award”.

This year MMHRC has applied and won the award for the following reasons,

Meenakshi Mission has reported an average turnover is just 2 percent for the 3 years. Employee satisfaction surveys percentage is more than 7 out of 10, which includes the factors like, supports a healthy life style; values work life balance, and employee.

Dance Marathon 2014 – An out of the box fundraising event with a difference
The college students were involved in fundraising in the midst of their studies and examinations. Students of 40 colleges in and around Madurai involved themselves in fundraising activity for the children with cancer.

This year, for the first time Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre conducted a Dance Marathon Event at Lakshmi Sundaram Hall on 23.02.2014. 41 colleges participated and through this event more than Rs. 10 Lakhs was raised for the Camila Children’s Cancer Fund.





Our sincere thanks to our Hon.Sellur K. Raju and family for sponsoring a ward in Meenakshi Mission Hospital & Research Centre (MMHRC) in the department of Emergency Medicine in the name of “Tamilmani Memorial Ward”. India Winterim Program 2014

Study abroad programme is an opportunity for the students to study topics pertinent or complementary to their higher studies. This year we have provided opportunity on “medical exposures” to 21 members of IOWA University, USA. They learned both academic and cultural aspects.

Musical Event 2013
    A “Musical Concert” held on 23.02.2013 at Lakshmi Sundaram Hall, Tallakulam, Madurai by Padmashree Sudharagunathan. This event has the intension to raise awareness and resources for the Camila Children’s Cancer Centre of Madurai Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre. World No Tobacco Day

The World Health Organization (WHO) selects "The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control" as the theme of the next World No Tobacco Day, which will take place on Tuesday, 31 May 2011.

Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death. This year, more than 5 million people will die from a tobacco-related heart attack, stroke, cancer, lung ailment or other disease. That does not include the more than 600,000 people – more than a quarter of them children – who will die from exposure to second-hand smoke. The annual death toll from the global epidemic of tobacco use could rise to 8 million by 2030. Having killed 100 million people during the 20th century, tobacco use could kill 1 billion during the 21st century.

So the hospital observes "World No Tobacco day" on 31st May 2011 by placing the poster in various places especially patients and attendees visiting areas for giving awareness on dangerous effects using tabacco in various forms. Lets join hands to give awareness !
